THE 18th SCOUT CRUISER SQUADRON Dauntless-class Light Cruisers, Lance Variant (110 pts Per Ship)
Dauntless class light cruisers have played an important role in the Imperial Navy for centuries. This proven design couples great speed and maneuverability with a strong prow armament. The Vigorous and the Darter are standard configuration Dauntlesses, meaning they mountsa strength 3 prow lance armament. While these weapons do not ignore shields, if the ship is crippled the strength of her prow armament only drops by 33%, as opposed to 50% for the torpedo-armed variants. If the Dauntless class design has a weakness, it is that her smaller size limits its ability to take damage and also prevents these ships from carrying the normal prow armor of other Imperial cruisers. The Panache and the Darter makes up the 18th Scout Cruiser squadron. These ships form a mobile reserve for Battlegroup Fortitas, finishing off crippled enemy vessels and covering the withdrawal of heavily damaged friendly ships. By Andy Rucker |
