Emperor-class
battleships are widely regarded as the most effective battleship class
in the Imperial Navy. They are the Imperium's greatest carriers, able to
launch an impressive number of attack craft. Some ships are even capable
of launching Shark assault boats, the only vessel in the Navy capable of
doing so. This unmatched carrier capability is backed up with a
bristling array of long range weapons batteries, allowing this
battleship to engage its foes from a distance. The Harbinger of
Victory is one of the oldest ships in Battlegroup Fortitas, second
only to the battlegroup's flagship, the Apollo. She has had a
distinguished service history, most of it spent in Segmentum Solar.
After a millennia of service there, she was sent as reinforcements to
Segmentum Pacificus, and hence to Battlegroup Fortitas. Admiral Ruckdog,
contrary to traditional Navy practice, decided not to transfer his flag
to the Harbinger of Victory, preferring to maintain the
smaller Apollo as his flagship. Nevertheless, the
Harbinger of Victory has become home to much of the administrative
staff for the Battlegroup.
