I hate Zombies.
Having really enjoyed the first
Resident Evil game for the GameCube, I was really curious about this new
game when it was released over the holidays. I was forced to skip over it at
the time for lack of money, but now I have finally gotten my hot little
hands on a copy.
After playing through the first part of the game, which
takes place on a train, and into the mansion that follows, I am very
impressed. The graphics are just as good as RE's, which is to say they kick
ass seven ways to Sunday. If anything, there have been a number of
improvements. I have noticed that there are more animated objects in the
backgrounds (such as a bottle rolling around a table due to the movement of
the train), and also there has been some limited camera panning in the
larger rooms. Another small improvement I have noticed is that the
animations that accompany climbing and descending stairs has been greatly
improved. It is hard to believe that this game was originally for the N64!
The control scheme is still the same 'ol like it or hate
it first person one that has graced/cursed the RE series since its
inception. However, the gameplay changes, such as being able to switch
between characters and the deletion of those magical item boxes have made
this game feel really fresh to me.
I am really pleased with this game so far. It looks to be
just as entertaining and engrossing as RE was, and with 2 discs it should be
just as long, too. Well, that about wraps it up so far...if you will
excuse me, I need to go and put some more zombies out of my misery with my
trusty shotgun. |
