Wow! I get to drive a Tank!

These impressions will be short and sweet.

Battlefield 1942 is a WW II themed action game that allows you to fight the war as a foot soldier, a tanker, a pilot, or at the helm of a mighty warship.  This makes the game a wide-open experience.

To put it simply, this game is a blast to play, especially with other people. Graphically, the game is passable but not overly gorgeous. Some compromises had to be made in order for the game to run smoothly with a large number of people playing, I suppose. The sound effects and music are pretty good, as well. I am especially fond of the tense song played as a mission is loading. It really revs you up for the fight to come!

There are some graphical issues with the game, as I had to go through a strenuous updating process with my display drivers to get the game to display properly. However, I think that in the end the result was worth the effort. I have just finished the single player campaign on normal difficulty, and the most striking feature that I noticed is the shear expansiveness of the maps. The environments are truly large, making the many vehicles scattered across the landscape a necessity.

Well, I said these would be short, and I wasn't lying! Look for a review in the near future!
