Oddly enough, it has been quite rainy here in
Charleston the last few days. Right now it is pouring to beat the band
outside, and whenever the weather gets like this I can't help but think
of a certain song
from the anime "Cowboy Bebop." The wet conditions almost brought
me to grief the other day, as a matter of fact. I was driving to work
through a cloudburst when my windshield wipers failed. To say the least,
it was quite an exciting time! I managed to effect a repair, of sorts,
but Lord only knows how long it is going to last. Ah, the joys of owning
an old car. In other news, The Boat is down
again. Oddly enough, nothing on the boat itself has broken this time
around. Instead, the shore power substation on the pier went up in
smoke. This equipment is actually owned by the local utility company,
not the Navy, and the rumor is that the utility company has estimated
two weeks to repair the damaged equipment. This will make it much more
difficult for me to qualify by 20 October, especially since the boat is
scheduled to go down on 4 October for a planned maintenance period. Ah,
the joys of working in an old submarine.
All that aside, I've been plowing ahead with my
model project. I've got an update for you on that below, and it is a bit
more meatier than the last one. I am still hoping to have this little
project wrapped up before I move, and it look like I just might make it!
