I hope that all of you reading this are having a
happy and joyous holiday. As for me, I'm not doing too shaby!
I had duty yesterday, so I didn't get home until
around 0830 or so. I was pretty tired, so I laid down for a nap around
1000, and didn't wake up until 1400. I was in for a surprise when I woke
up, though, for when I looked outside I discovered that it was actually
snowing. This is the first snow that I have seen here by the the house
in Bremerton. There have been several snows already at places further
inland, but before today all the precipitation that I have seen by my
house has been rain. There isn't a lot of accumulation, however there is
just enough to give a frosting to the trees and make the scene from our
deck really pretty:
Continuing in my fine holiday tradition, I've managed
to not update the site in over a month. This has been a busy month for
me though. There has been a lot of stuff going on at work, and what free
time I have had has mostly been going towards sleep! Still, I've had a
few moments for frivolity, which has mostly gone toward playing a couple
of video games or working my way through the sizable backlog of DVD's
I've managed to accumulate. Additionally, I've had the time to work in a
Battlefleet Gothic game or two with Sean. I actually remembered to bring
my camera along for once, and have put together a battle report below.
Check it out!
I think I have finally gotten the hang of taking
decent shots of miniatures using my digital camera. The camera has an
automatic setting for taking pictures of close-up objects, but it is
tricky to use. The slightest movement results in a blurry and unusable
image. The secret, I have found, is to steady my hand and use the
countdown timer. This allows me to take a picture without having to
press the "shutter" button, which would otherwise jiggle the camera too
much to get a decent image.
Well, I will be flying home to Indiana a week from
today for a week and a half of leave. I'm really looking forward to it!
I'll get to see my family, and Gwen is flying out too, so we will have
some time to spend together. My friend Vince is also going to be in
town, so I'll get to see him. Additionally, my Mom and Dad have gotten a
lot of work done on our house, which has been in a continuous state of
remodeling for the last 20 years! I hear they have gotten a couple of
rooms finished, and started a couple of others. I'll try to take some
pictures while I'm there to share. And finally, there is about a foot of
snow on the ground back home right now. I was thinking about it, and it
really has been several years since I've seen a good snow, so I'm
looking forward to that too.
Hopefully I'll get the chance to put up another
update or two while I'm on leave, but who knows!
