Hee hee, sliding this one in
before the calendar ticks over to March. I really don't have any good
excuse for not updating before this, other than my usual busy work
schedule and chronic laziness when I'm at home. Actually, I guess that
is not quite true. I've been putting a lot of time into a new game
called Mass Effect 2 (ME2). I finally beat it yesterday at the 43 hour
mark! This game is obviously the sequel to the first Mass Effect from a
couple of years ago. I never got around to reviewing the first one, but
it made a great impression on me with its detailed sci-fi setting and
galactic exploration themes. The second game follows on directly after
the first (you can even import your character from the first game). It
is so good, I'm even thinking of playing it through again from the
beginning with a new character! Look for a review of this game on the
site in the not too distant future.
When I haven't been playing ME2,
I've been spending some of my free time working on some of my wargamming
projects. I'm currently working on a scratch-built Thunderbolt fighter,
as well as several tanks that I received as Christmas gifts. I've also
managed a few trips out to the game store, where I've been mainly
playing Axis & Allies War at Sea. I've been really enjoying this game
and the group of guys I've been playing with. I'd consider myself lucky
if I find a group of gaming friends as half as fun when I get to my next
tour!
Speaking of which, as I
mentioned last time Gwen and I are going to be moving back to Virginia
in April. I will be going to sea again between now and then, but we are
already starting to look for places to live. We are looking at a couple
of town houses, but haven't made any final decisions yet. Once we get
settled, I'm looking at starting a project I've been putting off for a
long time: My second R/C combat ship! This time around, I'm looking at
building a WWII American ship, the USS Indiana. When I get the project
underway, I will start another portion on my Warships page about it.
