I'm finally back home after a two week business
trip to Europe, so I figured what better way to celebrate my return than
by updating the website! As you can imagine,
I've been pretty busy (as usual) lately. Besides the business trip, I
have been busily finishing my summer masters classes. On top of that,
I've also been trying to get caught up on the backlog of modeling that
I've built up over the last few months. In between all of that, I've
also been enjoying my new toys (my iPad and 3DS). In fact, during my
most recent trip I left my laptop at home and relied solely on the iPad
for checking email, gaming, and internet. Overall, it performed
admirably in this role, and it was a lot easier to transport around than
the laptop. The only think I don't think I would be able to use it
for is serious word processing, like writing a paper.
As for the 3DS, I've mainly been playing the new
Pokemon game on it. While this game hardly stretches the capabilities of
the system, I am really enjoying it and have put a lot of time into it
over the last couple of months. Unfortunately, it seems many gamers have
not been able to integrate the device into their gaming lives; see the
recent Penny
Arcade posts for example (NSFW). I can see their point, as the
explosion of games for the iPad and smart phones have almost made a
dedicated separate gaming device redundant. Almost. It will be
interesting to see how the 3DS and other dedicated portable gaming
consoles develop in the future. For now though, I am still of a mind that
having a dedicated portable is not such a bad thing ;).
As I mentioned last time, I am restructuring the site
a bit to allow for broader coverage of my interest in the miniatures war
gaming hobby. I've now created a separate page that will contain info on
the various games I play. This page will appear under one menu entry,
instead of having one link for each game. Also, I've come to realize
lately that much of the time I spend the internet is now given over to
posting on various message boards. This is a change, as much of what I
post on those boards would have once been posted here. With that in
mind, updates to the war gaming page will often consist of links to
posts and galleries on those pages. Check it out! |
