I hope that everyone is having a
happy and blessed Easter season.
Things are still a bit crazy for
me; although my masters classes have wound down for now. there is still
a lot of things going on at work. Even more so, a lot of stuff has been
going on for me personally and professionally. On a sad note, my Aunt
Carol passed away late Saturday. She had been ill for some time, so her
passing wasn't sudden, but it is still a difficult time for all of us. I
ask that you please keep her and my Uncle Frank in your prayers. You can
read her obituary
here.
Professionally, it looks like my
career path in submarines might not be as cut and dried as I first
thought. It is looking like the cut to make Department Head (my next
career milestone) is going to be a lot tougher than I first thought. The
word is that there is 100 officers competing for only 20 slots! If I
don't get selected, my submarine career is effectively over. This does
not mean that I am necessarily out of the Navy, though. I will have the
opportunity to try and laterally commission into another community.
However, that process only has a 40% selection rate, so it is still
quite possible I will be looking for civilian employment by the end of
the year.
Well, that is about it for now;
I've got several updates on the list of things to do, but to be honest
I'm not really feeling up to putting them together at the moment. Till
next time! |
